Lolita Black/Chrome Jackson/The Pilgrim/Loon
Lots of good local peeps in one lineup tonight, plus some friends of friends.
This will be also be the FIRST and LAST time you will probably see LOON play as Mis is moving away. Dont miss (no pun intended) the sludge fest. LOON starts at 9:30 and the other bands follow from there.

Nice Slce gets the treatment
Our old pal Shep piled in to Al's pizza joint late last night to do a mural on the entry wall.
For those of you that don't know Al's pizza place, Nice Slice:

The place looks amazing. There are other nooks and crannies that got wheatpasted too...but no pics of those. Just go and see it for yo'self. Best pizza in town...now with more "Aht".
Thanks Mitch (Nice Slice/Trash Art) for having a phone with a camera. :)

Blood Ceremony
I picked up the new Blood Ceremony LP at Armageddon (which is strangely on violet vinyl...I would have expected blood red). I totally am digging this. As Ben at Armageddon said, they sound like Witchcraft with female vocals...which is pretty dead on. Of course, Witchcraft sounds like Sabbath/Pentagram so that is nothing totally radical or anything, but still totally good. These guys have a bit more Tull for obvious reasons:
...oh, and while searching for Blood Ceremony I randomly came across this absolutely bonkers painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau from 1850 that I haven't seen since art school;

Megasus on Rock Band
Yesterday (Tuesday) the Megasus song "Megasus" (yup...theme songs rule) was released on Rock Band for XBox360 and PS3. If any of you are into that sort of thing, check it out. People are already going apeshit over Gibson's drums on that track...as they are virtually impossible for mortals.
Then again, if you hate Rock Band, or having fun...don't bother.

Art, Barnacled and Strange Flesh
There are a few things happening tonight on the art front. Stairwell and Machines With Magnets are both hosting openings. Photographs at Stairwell and a skate film at MwM.
There are also some shows, like the Barnacled Release partay at AS220.
OH! and also, I have turned one of my favorite Providence 7"s into MP3s. Strange Flesh circa 1987. I will try to scan the cover because it too is up there amongst my faves (Graham Batting artwork...there is a very similar sticker below). I am going to go ahead and call it a Crossover record, but some might say it falls on the thrash or punk side of the fence. Whatevs...here they are. Bask in the 80's glory:

basement tracks
Literally.
My basement was sorta trashed so it is forcing me to unearth lots of old stuff. Amongst the rubble were some really fun cassettes from 1989-1996 or so. I am going to post them as soon as I can, starting with these 2:
1) Mummers Play: This is a tape that compiled lots of locals doing holiday music. I only have a single, long mp3 right now, but check back soon for cut up tracks with credits. Happy belated holidaze.
click here for the forum thread
click here for the track - EDIT: I took down this version as I digitize a higher quality one.
2) Possibly my favorite PVD band of all time, Lazy Eye, made a 4 track recording before they created their properly recorded album. It was direct to 4 track. I think 2 of these tracks did not appear on the final record. Lazy Eye was: Glenn Quinette - guitar, Doug Alien - drums, Jed Marshall - vocals and bass, Kevin Devine - guitar and backup vocals.
go to the Rare and Live page to hear the 5 tracks.
