WHAT!? Earth is (I guess) not playing tonight

This blows.

What is going on? Why does it seem like Providence can't support the touring bands? I am in packed shows all the time...I don't see why it is so hard to get a good turnout/guarantee for the acts. Here is the roster for Mammoth Booking, the people that could have figured out a way to keep EARTH here in PVD:

AIDS WOLF
ANTELOPE
ASVA
BARONESS
BLOOD AND TIME
BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE
BORIS
DON CABALLERO
EARTH
FINAL
GRAILS
HARVEY MILK
HIGH ON FIRE
ISIS
JESU
KTL
KYLESA
MONO
OREN AMBARCHI
PELICAN
PISSED JEANS
RED SPAROWES
RUSSIAN CIRCLES
SLEEPING STATES
STRINGS OF CONSCIOUSNESS
SUNN 0)))
THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES
THRONES
TORCHE
YOUNG WIDOWS
ZENI GEVA
ZOMBI

ZOMBI? RUSSION CIRCLES?RED SPAROWES?BORIS?BARONESS? TORCHE? GAHHH!

I want these bands here in Providence.
I am pissed.

If anyone from Mammoth can hear me...please get in contact. I will help assure that these shows are well publicised and well attended.

Crap.

We keep trying to book some of these bands, but we don't do guarantees. We do run shows well and fairly (I think), but we're not signing contracts making the shop responsible for any random set dollar amount that booking agents are asking for. Your draw is your draw, and you'll be paid fairly according to that if you're on the road. If the situation was otherwise we'd do more of these bands/shows.

When we tried to do right by Thrones & Ocrilim a few months ago, the booking agent booked the show with us, then backdoored the show at another venue with another promoter without letting us know. Sweet. Baroness has said they'll never play Providence for personal reasons, so scratch them from your PVD list. Kylesa is playing here in January with Amebix if all goes well.

If someone wants to put their checkbook where their mouth is, you can book any show you want really. We work too hard for too little to do that any more. We did do some metal shows a few years back (Enslaved, Impaled, Pungent Stench, Nile, etc) and lost money paying guarantees. It was not worth our time and effort, other than the fact that those bands got to play in PVD. We're always happy to help book and run shows for bands who are down to be treated fairly, and want a good, fun PVD show.

See what you can do Ryan, email Mammoth and see if they want to deal with booking here in PVD. I have a feeling they already have some contacts anyhow, but aren't getting the $$ they're asking for. I'd be stoked as well to see some of these bands roll through the city, and not just on the way to play somewhere else. You know what I mean?

Ben-

I got in touch with Mammoth. They were very nice but informed me (as did Pippi) that they are the IK booking group and not the US.

I hear where you are coming from with the $$. I was just hoping to start getting all of the troops together when a show like this appears and do some collective promoting so that the shows get filled and bands get paid.

If someone can get Electric Wizard to play in PVD however...I would personally insure that guarantee!

:)

Who Cares, Earth sucks now anyway

If E. Wiz comes to the US and skips PVD, I quit music.

I got sick of putting in the effort of finding venues and booking/promoting shows only to have poor turnouts half the time. I don't do guarantees, and lost too much money on alot of these shows and got into an ugly situation over a misunderstanding where a guarantee was apparently involved when I took a show over to keep it going on. The situation in Providence needs to change before I bother doing that again. Electric Wizard will play Providence in 2009, that I will get involved in if I have to.
